How to Knit

This is a two week course for complete beginners.  It is also good for those who would like a reminder of basic knitting techniques.  You will learn techniques including casting on (and off!), knit and purl, and begin making a snood using the stitches learnt.
All materials are provided at the first lesson, including knitting needles.

How to Crochet
This is a two week course for complete beginners.  In this class you will learn the basic crochet stitches of chain, double and treble crochet.  Over the two weeks you will make a crocheted bag using chunky yarn and will also be shown some finishing techniques.
All materials are provided at the first lesson, including yarn and a crochet hook.

Cable Workshop
Join us for this introduction to cable knitting.  During the class you will learn the basics of cable knitting - how patterns are written, abbreviations & charts, and will begin making a pair of mittens using the techniques you've learnt . Please note - this is an intermediate level class.  Knitting skills required: knit, purl & rib

Fair Isle Workshop
In this class you will learn the techniques required for traditional, Fair Isle style stranded colourwork.  Samples will be provided to practice on.

Crochet Squares Workshop

In this workshop you will learn all the steps required to make a granny/afghan square, as shown in the picture above.

Materials will be provided, including yarn and a crochet hook.

How to Knit a Hat
Never made a hat before?  Come and join us for this class where we will show you how to make a quick, chunky bobble hat using lovely Rowan Big Wool yarn.  We will show you all the steps required, including shaping, sewing up and making a pom pom.  We don't teach basic knitting skills in this class, but as long at you know how to do the knit stitch (we will help you to cast on and there is no purling!) then this class is for you.

Knitting in the Round using Double Pointed Needles

This class is an introduction to knitting in the round using double pointed needles.  You will begin knitting a drawstring bag using the techniques learnt.  All materials will be provided, including yarn and double pointed needles. This is an intermediate level class: skills required knit, purl and rib.

Making up & Finishing Techniques

This class covers a range of techniques for successfully completing your knitting projects.  Samples will be available to practice on or you are welcome to bring along your own unfinished project to the class.

How to Knit Socks

This two week class will cover knitting a sock from the toe upwards.  You will learn shaping techniques such as a boomerang heel and will also learn how to do a magic cast on.  This is an advanced class and in order to attend you already need to know how to knit in the round using double pointed needles - this will not be covered in the class.

Skills required: knit, purl, knitting in the round using DPNs.

Materials will be provided including a set of double pointed needles and yarn to make a pair of socks.
